Meet Dr. Jeffrey Thorpe

Emeritus

Dr. Thorpe has been consistently recognized as a leader in the field of Endodontics. Most recently, he has been awarded the Top Dentist by Virginia Living Magazine (2010, 2013, 2015-2020) and the Consumers’ Research Council of America (2015-2020). He has also been recognized as a Northern Virginia Magazine Top Dentist (2012, 2015-2020) and Washingtonian Magazine’s Top Dentist (2014 – 2019).

Upon completion of dental school at S.U.N.Y Buffalo, he entered the United States Navy and served as a general dentist until 1987. Dr. Thorpe completed an Advanced Clinical Program in Endodontics in 1988 and his Endodontic residency program at the Naval Postgraduate Dental School, Bethesda, Maryland in 1991. Dr. Thorpe served for more than 22 years in U. S. Navy Dental Corps, retiring as a Captain in 2003. During his Naval career, Dr. Thorpe was the Specialty Consultant for Endodontics for the Southeast U.S., Europe and Western U.S. His last duty assignment was as Assistant Professor of Endodontics at the Naval Postgraduate Dental School, Bethesda, MD. Dr. Thorpe still lectures at the Navy program as well as local study clubs and is a Clinical Adjunct Professor for the Master program in Oral Science at George Washington University.

Dr. Thorpe is a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics, a Fellow of the International College of Dentists and a member of American College of Diplomates. He is also a member of the American Dental Association, the Virginia Dental Association, the Northern Virginia Dental Society, and the Southern Endodontic Study Group.
