Upon completion of dental school, he entered the United States Navy and served as a general dentist until 1989. Dr. Thorpe completed his endodontic residency program at the Naval Postgraduate Dental School, Bethesda, Maryland in 1991.

Dr. Thorpe has more than 22 years of dental practice experience in the United States Navy including over 15 years as an endodontic specialist and dental educator. Prior to joining Manassas Endodontics, Dr. Thorpe was a professor of Endodontics at the Naval Post Graduate Dental School, Bethesda, Maryland until his retirement in June.

Dr. Thorpe is a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics and a Fellow of the International College of Dentists.
